Federation
What is Federation?
The National Federation of Music Clubs is an organization of music teachers designed to promote a balanced study of American and international music literature, and to encourage a high standard of achievement through non-competitive evaluations.
Our Federation club holds two annual events; a Concerto/Ensemble Festival each fall, and a Solo Festival each spring. The Concerto/Ensemble Festival is actually two festivals combined into one.
Concerto Festival
For the Concerto Festival, each student prepares a piano concerto from the required list in the Federation Bulletin. They must play their solo part from memory, with an accompanist who may use the music. Most often, I accompany my own students on their concertos, but it is also acceptable for a parent, sibling, or other pianist to accompany them.
Ensemble Festival
For the Ensemble Festival, students prepare duets, trios, or quartets with other students in my studio. Each ensemble group plays two pieces, a "required" piece from the Federation Bulletin, and a "choice" piece. Students are not required to memorize ensemble pieces.
Solo Festival
For the Solo Festival, students prepare two pieces, a "required" piece from the Federation Bulletin (pieces by American composers), and a "choice" piece by a non-American composer.

You should be able to listen to these files directly from Google Drive (on my computer I had to install the Google music player, but on my phone I just used the Google Drive app), or you can download the files and play them from iTunes. Keep in mind that these are not professional recordings.
