The Benefits of Group Lessons

A group setting is an ideal way for children to learn music. There are so many things that are easier in a group class than in a private lesson -- movement to music, singing, rhythm instruments, ensemble playing, and theory and ear training games. Developmentally, children learn most effectively through play and immersive hands-on exploration.

About Mighty Musicians

In these weekly 50-minute classes, parent and child participate together. I use a layered approach where students first hear musical patterns, then sing the patterns, then play them, and then learn to read the notation. Through this process, they learn to audiate, which is the ability to hear sounds internally before singing or playing them, and is a crucial ability for musical development. We use solfege singing to develop a strong pitch center. We also start with large motor skills by playing rhythm instruments and moving to music, and then fine motor skills through finger plays and keyboard playing. Along the way students learn chord theory, ensemble playing, composition, reading lead sheets, and performance skills. Students usually remain in the group classes for 2-4 years before moving into private lessons.

Tuition is $420 per 11-week term, payable in $140 monthly installments. Materials are $75 the first term, and then $55 each time new materials are required (approximately every two terms). Save a spot for Fall 2024 by clicking the link below!
